To get the best value from every communication you find yourself – wether casual or intimate – you need to first understand that EVERYONE WANTS TO BE HEARD AND UNDERSTOOD. Though people communicate in different forms and languages; vocals, signs, music or whatever form or emotion they display, the key thing you should understand is that, everyone is trying to pass a message IN THEIR OWN WAY and they want to be heard and understood.
So when you connect with a person or group of people – whether a friend, stranger, teammate, colleague, lover, boss, whoever or wherever – to get the best out of the flow, go in with openess to hear them out, willingness to consider what is being said, empathy to try viewing things in their own perspective, calmness(when necessary) to avoid unnecessary escalation and most importantly patience to allow them pass their message.
Everyone wants to be heard, but it’s sad that technological development makes it harder to pass messages the way it should be. A person might be feeling some kind of way, but can’t let out as much, instead they let emojis and stickers take over(even when it’s not how they feel). So whenever they try to connect for real, they find it hard to express themselves, some even go as far as claiming to be “introverts” to curb confrontation. Put into consideration these things too.
Never pull away from lending a listening ear whenever its needed, and be open to understanding what is being passed.
