Many prospective students ask why our first degree Reiki class at NYC Reiki Center is so long – 16 Hours, over 2 days. Why spend a weekend in our Midtown office when there are 1-hour Reiki workshops and online Reiki training elsewhere? We can’t answer that for you, but we can tell you what to expect in class with Brian or Diane, and encourage you to find the right Reiki teacher for you.
What You’ll Learn at NYC Reiki Center’s Reiki Classes
Each of the four sections in our first degree Reiki classes has three essential components, and frankly, it’s difficult to imagine covering them in less time.
We tell the full story of Reiki and the history of our practice, Usui Shiki Ryoho – The Usui Method of Natural Healing. This creates for the students a strong energetic connection to the teachers who’ve come before us and makes their Reiki stronger.
Four meditative Reiki initiations (attunements) enable students to channel and deliver Reiki at full power. Many quick classes only give one initiation or attunement, and their students often feel that they lose the ability to use Reiki after a few months. Our teachers taught us that Reiki is transferred hand-to-hand, face-to-face, from teacher to student, in a direct lineage going back to Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki with four attunements. Once the fourth attunement is given, students will have a lifelong connection to Reiki that will never fade and will grow stronger through time and practice.
And, practice, practice, practice, because you cannot learn what you have not practiced. Each student also receives three or four Reiki treatments, giving them not only experience with and sensitivity to the energy, but also expanded personal energy and awareness. People change for the better during our classes.
So, when you leave our Reiki class with Brian or Diane, you’ll be fully prepared to treat yourself and others.
