Reiki i.e. life force energy can only heal. In Reiki class one gets attuned and he becomes capable of channelising much more life energy Reiki and can heal himself or others. This capability remains life time.
Reiki healer, after prayers as per his religion, can feel the energy flowing through him.
There is unnecessary concern that Reiki healing or energy healing can harm the healer. Logic given is Reiki healer can bring harmful effect or a sort of curse by interfering in to KARMIC DEBTS of the patient. This is not true. It is a mis understood spiritual philosophy.
This wrong approach can create apprehensions in the mind of all those who treat patients, including doctors, homeopaths, yoga or pranayam teachers, naturopaths , sudarshan kriya practitioners etc. It will appear that they are all wrongly interfering in others KARMIK DEBTS .
