Skeptics Visit A Reiki Healer
I visited a reiki master and the experience was interesting to say the least. Like anyone trying something new and unusual, I had several questions: Is reiki real? Is reiki a hoax? Is it a religion? Although I had some preconceived notions, I attempted to enter my reiki session as unassuming as possible. However, after my reiki treatment, I felt I had good reasons to remain unconvinced that reiki healing has much merit. It seems that the practitioners’ claims relied on anecdotal evidence and the experience of the placebo effect. In that way, reiki is much like other forms of alternative medicine.
