This week’s session, we discussed what to do when a person refuses Reiki for their animal. There are times when we see an animal could use extra support, but we are conflicted about asking permission. Or, we ask permission from an animal’s caregiver, and the person says no.
We gave some useful tips on how to handle this situation with grace and compassion.
We teach that animals have agency. They have the power to choose whether or not to accept what we are offering. When we look at offering support through the Let Animals Lead® method, we see that there is no harm in connecting directly with the animal and asking THEIR permission.
The wonderful aspect of the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki is that it is meditation based and not trying to “fix” anything. We are sharing love, peace, compassion and joy with the animals. We aren’t directing our energy or focus on the issue.
We had a lively discussion about this that delved further into this and gave wonderful tips on how you can support any animal under any condition.
We also shared some important questions you can ask yourself before offering meditation/reiki at an organization that houses animals, such as a shelter or even places like a zoo:
– Is what I am doing harmful to the animal?
– Is what I am doing harmful to other humans?
– Am I breaking any volunteer protocol:
*Going where I am not allowed?
*Being disruptive to the animal?
*Being disruptive to humans?
*Creating more work for the organization?
If you can answer no to all of these questions, then there is zero harm in what you are doing!
When we practice the Let Animals Lead® method, we are always offering love, light, and joy. Our method is the most ethical method of animal reiki, and it can be used for any animal under any circumstance.
We also talked about the orcas in captivity and how we can support them more deeply. Your love and support can create change. It may seem daunting and overwhelming because you are just one person, but that’s how change starts. And the good news is, you are never alone – you have all of us doing the same thing.
